Baseball

Columbia Central 12, Addison 2: Don’t look now but the Golden Eagles are 8-0 to start the season. CCHS scored eight times in the fifth inning to break open a close contest. Brad Hoskins and Chase Dukate each finished with two hits and three RBIs for CCHs. Conor Rentfrow earned the pitching win striking out seven batters in five innings pitched.

Columbia Central 10, Addison 1: Chase Dukate continued to be the hot hitter for CCHS with three runs and three RBIs in the victory. He also earned the pitching win with eight strikeouts in six innings pitched. Conor Rentfrow also recorded three hits for CCHS.

Grass Lake 15, East Jackson 0: Brayden Lape finished with three hits and Max Schafran struck out 10 batters on the mound for Grass Lake. Walker McKibbin finished with three hits and two RBIs for GLHS. Jake Saunders finished with a pair of hits for East Jackson.

Grass Lake 18, East Jackson 0: Sal Vitale drove in four runs to lead the Warriors to the win. Luke Guthrie collected three hits and knocked in two runs and Walker McKibbin and Jack Reid combined for a one hitter for GLHS. Dustin Poole had the only hit for the Trojans.

Hanover-Horton 11, Homer 1: Luke Soper struck out 10 batters and only allowed three hits in the win for the Comets. Channing Hull and Jack Wooster both finished with two hits for Hanover-Horton.

Hanover-Horton 9, Homer 7: Jack Wooster and Luke Soper both finished with three hits in the win. The Comets scored four times in the first inning.

Pinckney 16, Jackson 2: The Vikings were limited to five hits in the contest. Conor Bush and Zander Resor each had a hit and knocked in a run for the Vikings.

Pinckney 7, Jackson 1: Conor Bush finished with a pair of hits to lead Jackson.

Napoleon 2, Michigan Center 0: Grant Bradley was nearly perfect again striking out 17 of 18 batters faced in the win. Napoleon scored twice in the seventh inning on RBIs by Logan Hartman and Lucas Hankis. Brennan Forward had the only hit of the contest for MCHS.

Napoleon 9, Michigan Center 6: Lucas Hankis recorded two hits and knocked in four runs as the Pirates swept the Cardinals on the road Monday. Brady Sober collected two hits to lead Michigan Center.

Sand Creek 20, Springport 1: The Spartans were limited to two hits – one each by Jake Kregel and Gavin Lightner.

Sand Creek 11, Springport 2: Hunter Miller finished with one hit and an RBI for the Spartans.

Jonesville 16, Vandercook Lake 0: Drew Bradley finished with three hits to lead the Comets. The Jayhawks were no-hit by Bradley in the contest.

Jonesville 15, Vandercook Lake 0: The Comets scored seven runs in the fourth inning to close out the win. Micah Calligan pitched a four-inning no-hitter for Jonesville.

Softball

Columbia Central 29, Addison 2: Rylee Knapp drove in six runs as the Golden Eagles scored early and often against Addison. CCHS scored 11 runs in the first inning followed by nine in the second and third innings. Brianna Boone also collected three hits and five RBIs for CCHS.

Columbia Central 16, Addison 3: The Golden Eagles collected 16 hits in only four innings for the win. Camden Knapp drove in five runs with two hits and Bri Boone, Gianna Evans, and Kelsee Fausz all collected three hits in the victory.

Grass Lake 19, East Jackson 0: Nadene Hubbard collected four hits – including a home run – to propel Grass Lake to the big win. Morgan Conrad pitched a no-hitter for the Warriors striking out seven batters in four innings of work.

Grass Lake 15, East Jackson 0: Adalyn Henson collected two hits and knocked in four runs for Grass Lake. Makenzie Hilberer and Nadene Hubbard combined for a three-inning no-hitter for Grass Lake. Olivia Turner and Bree Salts each collected two hits and knocked in two runs and Rylee Fitzpatrick had a solo home run for Grass Lake (8-0).

Homer 4, Hanover-Horton 1: Alexyn DuBois and Alexis Flint each recorded two hits for the Comets. DuBois pitched a complete game and struck out 13 batters for HHHS.

Homer 4, Hanover-Horton 1: The Comets were limited to one hit – by Alexyn DuBois – in the loss.

Pinckney 15, Jackson 0: Emma Arnold pitched a no-hitter for Pinckney in game one.

Pinckney 15, Jackson 0: Jackson was limited to one hit in the contest.

Michigan Center 11, Napoleon 1: The Cardinals are 6-0 to start the season following a sweep of Napoleon. Emma Pond earned the win with nine strikeouts for MCHS. She also finished with two hits and two RBIs in the contest. Napoleon had seven hits – three by Maggie Beer – in the contest.

Michigan Center 15, Napoleon 12: The Cardinals scored four times in the seventh inning to pull out the win. Kylie McKee and Mackenzie Fredrickson each finished with three hits and three RBIs for Michigan Center. Hayden Rendall finished with four hits and three RBIs for Napoleon (3-5).

Springport 14, Sand Creek 4: The Spartans improved to 9-1 on the season with a sweep of Sand Creek Rebekkah Betz hit a home run and knocked in two runs and Chloey Speer finished with three hits in the contest. Morgan Shoemaker struck out eight batters in five innings on the mound for Springport.

Springport 19, Sand Creek 10: Morgan Shoemaker had a pair of hits – including a home run – and four RBIs to lead Springport. Brenna Crittenden, Jordan Reed, and Devan Lowe each collected three hits for the Spartans.

Jonesville 15, Vandercook Lake 0: Lyra Nichols pitched a one-hitter for Jonesville.

Jonesville 24, Vandercook Lake 5: Vandercook Lake scored four times in the third inning, but it was not enough.

Girls Soccer

Columbia Central 3, Jonesville 0: Sophom*ore Kennedy Salter notched two goals – one in each half – and freshman Sienna Williams closed out the scoring with her first career tally late in the game. Sophom*ore goalkeeper Kolie Brown wasn’t forced to make any saves for the second straight game to record the shutout as the Golden Eagle defense was stifling throughout.

Michigan Center 6, Hanover-Horton 2: Sophia Allen recorded a hat trick for the Cardinals. Cece Scaife finished with two goals and Lydia Meyer added one for the Cardinals. Natalie Smith pulled double duty with work on the defensive side and as a backup goalie.
