How is 5000 hit points achieved? I don't know how that is accomplished even with tomes, gear, past lives, enhancement trees. Can someone who has a character with hp of this level explain how they achieved that?

Thanks!

The most important factor in getting high hit point totals are your class levels off of which many things generate additional hit points.

A pure Barbarian is almost always going to be the highest possible hit points because d12 for class levels. A pure Wizard struggles to get to 2500 hit points because d6 for class levels.

This is wrong—the difference between a d6 and a d12 hit die is at absolute most 400 hp, assuming full tank HP scalar. There are many differences that are more important than that, especially if the question is how to reach 5k.

Baahb's screenshot has a lot of good sources. Don't neglect con either—each 2 points is between 32 and 55 hp at cap, depending on your HP scalar.

Show me a Wizard with 5k hp. More than 5000 hit points? (5)

You need to get out more often... i've ran with numerous melee Wizards and even at least one caster Wiz with over 5k hp in reaper obviously but pretty much all conversations revolve around reaper content or raids so... is this ideal? idk since have never ran those builds as Wiz

if you max con and optimize your build for hp on a max past life toon with a respectable amout of reap points you'd be suprised how high you can get no matter the class you choose.

If you do this with a Barbarian you will severely outclass any Wizard.

The OP is asking how to get to 5k HP.

Does anybody really think the effective answer to that question is roll up a Wizard with max Con and get every HP enhancement in the game?

If you're getting to 5k, you're either an ubercomp melee DPS (the OP is clearly not), building poorly, or a tank. If you're a tank, you should always be over 5k, and any class can hit that.

Wouldn't be too hard, pale masters get 10% profane bonus in T5 zombie form. Splash a few levels in fighter or paladin for the 25% hp combined with all the standard means of increasing hp and you could probably hit 6 or 7k easily enough.

The Wizard tank still needs a lot more help than most melee-centric classes to get to high HP.

A Barbarian tank will outclass a Wizard tank every day and twice on raid day.

You need 5 levels of either to get to that 25%.

The OP asked about 5k hp, not THE ABSOLUTE MAX POSSIBLE EVER... and there are multiple ways to do it. Some easier than others, but that doesn't mean the others do not exist.

Don't underrate wizard tanks—for low reaper raids, they're really good, because they can self-heal and bring some nice immunities. On a char with lives and maxed sentient, you can clear 7.5k hp on a wizzy, which is plenty for things other than high skull raiding. The point is just that class HP die are a very small bit of an overall composite of HP

HP % scalars, generally CON as a main stat, appropriate filigree & gear weighted towards CON & HP, primal epic past lives, HP favour rewards, reaper points, etc

The wizard argument is funny because upgraded zombie form is a major bonus, wizards are the only class with 10% profane or any profane.
Paladins and clerics get 10% sacred, 5% sacred exists for Aasimar
barbs and fighters can get 10% quality, 5% quality exists in falconry, dwarf, bladeforged and unyielding sentinel

If you want to build absolute maximum HP potential 5 wizard for plague zombie is actually a requirement, just a quick concept is 5 wiz (10% profane), 12 cleric (its 18 paladin for 10% sacred), 3 fighter/pal (low hanging 25% comp hp)
of course this comes at a big sacrifice of AC and other defensive stat potential.
